We've Arrived!

Hi Everyone!

We're happy to be on land, it was a long flight but we've arrived in Buenos Aires and begun our latest adventure.

Traveling on New Years Eve was a great idea, we were upgraded to First Class from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta and then from Atlanta to Buenos Aires. It is the only way to fly!! If only I could count on that kind of travel everytime we went anywhere!

Buenos Aires is HUGE but relatively clean and friendly. We're staying at the Feirs Park Hotel in downtown BA. It's a nice hotel, has security around the clock. John and Jake just now returned from the rooftop pool. I haven't checked that out yet but they're quite happy.

So we arrived on Monday morning and were greeted at the gate by a fellow Embassy guy here. Diplomatic passes were thrown around and we whizzed through immigration and customs. God Bless diplomacy! Ha!

Monday was spent chilling out in the hotel. Unfortunately our rooms weren't ready so we literally hung out in the restaurant lounge area. We then moved into our two adjoining suites.

Tuesday John and I went to see a realtor and looked at a castle - yes, a Normandy-style, 10,000 sq. ft house. Awesome but pretty far away from the kids' school. Lisette and I did some grocery shopping, high-fived each other for surviving our first Spanish outing alone, and we found a park for Buddy (our lab) to do his business. Dinner was down the street and around the corner but cost a whopping $100 so perhaps it will have to just be a "date" site from now on!

Today (Wednesday) John and I hit the rental market today and found two "maybes", one being a very strong contender. This afternoon we dropped by the Embassy to start the in-processing. We made the mistake of bringing the kids with us - waaayyyy boring for them! Here I thought we were doing them a favour by getting them out of the hotel for a bit.

So now it's approaching dinner time ( for us early eating Yanks), it's 7 PM and the restaurant downstairs should be open.

My hope is to keep you all updated on our comings and goings. Here's hoping for good internet connections and time to post!

Love to you all!

Hi Shelley, I recently met a friend's mother in law who is from Argentina. She told me you should really like it there. I can't wait to hear about the house you end up with. What was wrong with the castle? I bet it can accomodate many friends! Take care, Love Shelley

Hi Guys
Glad to hear you made it... and things are going relatively well...

I also second the "castle", so we can all go down for a visit, lol.

We went to Fredericton yesterday to get passports, and people that were half way in line had been there for 2.5 hours , so I turned arond and left. Will be mailing mine in, lots of time don't leave till April.

So once we get the passports ( and win the lottery) we will be good to go anywhere, even if it is just to Calais
Say hi to everyone
Love Tammy B
